  • Dr. Koch was born in 1967 and studied history and English at the University of Göttingen; he received his PhD in 2005. Until 2016, he held contract and employed roles as an historian and exhibition curator, including for Hamburg’s Ministry of Culture and Media, the Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, the Hamburg Institute for Social Research, the University of Vienna and the German Historical Museum. Dr. Koch has published widely, particularly on the experiential history of World War II. He has been in charge of exhibitions and history at the Bundeskanzler-Helmut Schmidt-Stiftung since 2017.
