Kirsten Hartmann, M.A., studied International Relations and Peace Research and International Relations in Erfurt, Cali, Tübingen and Haifa. At the Bundeskanzler-Helmut-Schmidt-Stiftung (BKHS), she is a project officer in the programme unit European and International Politics. She works on topics related to the United Nations with a focus on youth, peace and security. Prior to that, she was a research assistant in the project “Global Expert Group on Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding”, which was implemented together with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. Before joining BKHS, she completed internships at the German Embassy in Panama City, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Israel-Office and the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office in New York, among others, and was a working student at the Berghof Foundation. Kirsten Hartmann was a participant in the 2024 Think Tank School of DGAP and MERICS, where she worked on the future of UN peace operations.
