Elisabeth Winter studied International Socioeconomics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and North American Studies with a focus on political science and economics at Freie Universität Berlin and Indiana University. In 2023, Elisabeth Winter graduated from Freie Universität Berlin with a Dr. phil. in International Relations. During her PhD studies with SCRIPTS, she hold visiting research positions at the Bertelsmann Foundation in Washington, DC as well as Princeton and Georgetown universities. Since 2016, Elisabeth Winter has held teaching positions at Freie Universität Berlin. Before joining the Bundeskanzler-Helmut-Schmidt-Stiftung as Programme Director “Global Markets and Social Justice” in 2021, Elisabeth Winter was a transatlantic research fellow with the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg and programme assistant at the Berlin office of the German Marshall Fund of the United States. Elisabeth Winter was a Young DGAP (German Council on Foreign Relations) fellow at the DGAP’s geoeconomic programme from 2020 to 2022 and a member of the Spinelli Forum from the DGAP and ISPI in 2021. Since 2023, she is a non-resident fellow with the project Transatlantic Dialogue on the Industrial Heartlands by Das Progressive Zentrum, the Chicaco Council on Global Affairs, Georgetown Universiy BMW Center for German and European Studies, and the Progressive Policy Institute.
