Gen P(eacebuilder) – Youth Expertise on Peace and Security

In 2015, the UN Security Council Resolution 2250 established the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda and recognised the important and positive role of young people in preventing conflicts and building sustainable peace. Despite this important milestone and although young people are leading change worldwide, their expertise on peace and security is still often dismissed.

With this platform on YPS, the BKHS aims to continue the conversation on youth in relation to peace and security with youth: we want to amplify youth expertise on peace and security. The platform features contributions of young peacebuilders from across the world who work on YPS in different contexts.

The platform aims to inform and inspire by showcasing a wide range of youth, peace and security topics through the perspectives of young leaders from different regions of the world — from the climate-YPS nexus and youth-led protests to the (lack of) youth ownership of the YPS agenda.

They provide insights for people who have never heard about the agenda, as well as for those who have worked in this area for years, for young and older people alike, for policy makers, officials and practitioners.

We also want to encourage reflection: what does it actually mean to implement YPS locally on the ground and why is implementing the agenda relevant for you – here and now?
